Fontarôme was established in 1978 in Grasse, France – the recognized world capital of the flavor and fragrance industry.
The company name is derived from two French words — fontaine (a spring, as of water) and arôme (a flavor, aroma), demonstrating our original and ongoing commitment to develop fine ingredients for the flavor and fragrance industries.
Success in the flavor and fragrance arena and synthetic organic expertise led the French company to expand into the global market and secure its primary manufacturing operations in the U.S. in the early 1980s.
Today, Fontarôme Chemical is an established and trusted researcher, manufacturer and distributor of fine flavor and fragrance chemicals, as well as active ingredients and their building blocks used by the pharmaceutical industry.
Fontarôme has several international offices with its headquarters now located just outside of Milwaukee, WI.
